People have always appreciated Dickson’s passion and pursuit for the interest and development of the Ijaw people over the years but in recent times more people are beginning to value his Ijaw unification and mobilization efforts geared at repositioning the ijaws for sustainable regional development and political of course relevance.
It is becoming clearer to the Ijaws that what the former governor of Bayelsa state had all this while been selflessly advancing with regards to the Ijaw interest is borne out of a clear understanding of the issues that have bedeviled and relegated the region to the background and a genuine interest and desire for her emancipation.
His recent visits to the governor of Rivers State, and now the mobilization of a high powered delegation of first class chiefs from Delta and Bayelsa States to the King of Gbaramaotu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oboro-Gbaraun II, Agadagba Aketepe on the occasion of the conferment of a chieftaincy title, speak volumes.
The attraction in this visit however remains the photograph of Dickson (the political champion of the Ijaw nation and another champion of the ijaw of the Ijaw emancipation in the person of Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo Tompolo, that has practically occupied the media space.
The perception and message the photograph of these two Ijaw sons convey is that of the ijaw consciousness being reenforced, and that of the unification of all Ijaw stakeholders in a bid to favorably reposition and reinstate the region, sustainably establishing the region as a factor in the Nigerian political and economic arena.
