In what seems like “declaration of state of emergency in constituents development and empowerment,” the former Governor of Bayelsa state who is currently the Senator representing Bayelsa west senatorial district, at the National Assembly, His Excellency Senator Henry Seriake Dickson has carried out massive human empowerment programs in his senatorial district.
The three days empowerment program which spanned from Wednesday 10th July to Friday 12th July 2024, in Toru-orua community, was under the facilitation of experts from Sheda Science and Technology Complex (FMSTI), Abuja and the Federal Co-operative College Oji Rivers, Enugu state.
Senator Dickson employed the services of these facilitators and resource persons to train beneficiaries of Bayelsa west, to enable them make effective use of the empowerment tools and equipment to their own advantage, not merely the monetary rewards.
The empowerment programs include;
Training of rural health workers in Bayelsa west.
Training, equipping and empowering various groups in fish farming.
Empowerment and financial support for raw music talents and cultural groups in Bayelsa west.
Financial empowerment of the elderly people in Bayelsa west.
The program was well attended by political leaders, traditional leaders and people from all work of life from Sagbama and Ekeremor local government areas.
Recall that Senator Dickson was re-elected by people of Sagbama and Ekeremor local government areas to represent the senatorial district owing to his credible and passionate representation of the Ijaw people and Niger Delta generally and he has since his inauguration on 13th June 2023, never failed to bring good returns to his constituents.
Senator Dickson has earlier carried out several human capital projects upon Inception as senator.
The Purchases and distribution of cars, tricycles, farming tools, sewing machines and offering financial grants to business people in the senatorial district, are some important projects carried out to enhance human capital development.
He has also made out a budget to provide monetary support and scholarships to students of Bayelsa west annually.
Over three thousand (3,000) students have so far benefited from the scheme and more will be captured in coming days.
Senator Dickson’s fervent communication with his constituents and response to challenges has earned him immeasurable love and support for his office.
The beneficiaries of the various empowerment programs from the two local government areas were filled with gratitude as they splashed praises on Senator H.S Dickson.
In their separate remarks, they thanked the Senator’s gesture and wished him well in the National Assembly.
